Using this model, we perform weather optimization to the timing of your thermostat setpoint schedule. You’re still in charge of setting and managing your thermostat schedule – we take the temperatures you’re comfortable at and only alter the timing of when your system should use energy to meet that temperature, considering the weather and how your home responds to it!
Here’s how we do it:
First, we build a thermodynamic model of your house using our weather data and your meter and/or thermostat data to understand how much energy it takes your home to attain and maintain your desired temperature—under every weather condition.
We then take your thermostat schedule and tomorrow’s forecasted weather for your neighborhood and optimize your schedule each day using our thermodynamic model of your home—so you hit your set points precisely given that day’s weather. We compare our model’s prediction of your home’s energy use against your home’s actual energy use and temperature to continuously improve our model.
